Classic Sandwich

Healthy Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich Recipe

    Applegate Farms Roast Beef
    Large Vadalia onion
    Bell peppers
    Extra virgin olive oil
    Salt and pepper
    Applegate Farms Provolone Cheese
    Hoagie rolls
1 ½ pounds Applegate Farms Peppered Eye Round
1 ½ pounds Roast Beef (thinly sliced)
1 large Vadalia onion
4 Bell peppers (any color)
4 tbs. of extra virgin olive oil
(to taste) salt and pepper
4 oz Applegate Farms Provolone Cheese
4 - 6 hoagie rolls

 

  1. Peel and halve onion, slice paper thin.
  2. Halve the peppers, remove seeds and slice into thick wedges.
  3. In a large skillet over low heat, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
  4. Add onions and cook 8 to 10 minutes until softened, stirring frequently.
  5. Transfer onions to small bowl and set aside.
  6. Add peppers to the same skillet and cook over low heat for 10 to 12 minutes until tender.
  7. Transfer to bowl with the onions and season to taste with salt and pepper.
  8. Cover with foil to keep warm and set aside until needed.
  9. In a large, clean skillet, heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.
  10. Cook the beef in 2 batches until lightly browned, adding more olive oil if necessary.
  11. To assemble sandwiches, line hero rolls with cheese and place beef and onion and pepper mixture on top.
