EEEEWWWWW April 22, 2012

Reviewer: Ash P.

Gross...cannot believe how disgusting these were! Really looked forward to trying them but had to spit the first bite out. PS Had to pick 1 star because it would not let me pick 0!

free shipping October 4, 2011

Reviewer: Applegate *.

Dear JLB, You are doing the right course of action by contacting your local store manager to ask them to stock up so you don’t have to drive all over! The only other option is what you mentioned which is to buy our products online. The promotion that we offer is free shipping with any order over $100, which is about 12-14 products - so hopefully you can find a variety of what you like! Thanks for asking!

14% larger! October 4, 2011

Reviewer: Applegate *.

Dear Antonio, Please know we have no recalls and no shortage issues with any of our hot dogs. You can check with your store manager to make sure they are still stocking them. We actually just changed the Turkey and Chicken Organic Hot Dogs to a flat pack with 7 dogs to make each of the 14% larger! Thanks for being a fan!

Great Hotdogs! October 3, 2011

Reviewer: Antonio S.

I absolutely love these hotdogs. They are organic, and they taste awesome. I love knowing that I am not eating Nitrates and other fillers in my dogs. Two questions: Was there recently a recall of the Turkey and Chicken hotdogs because I can no longer find them in my local supermarkets? Is there a plan in the works to make ball park like longer Turkey or Chicken dogs for those of us who like more meat?

Hoping to try October 1, 2011

Reviewer: JL B.

Haven't actually been able to try these yet, but pretty sure we would really like them! I was very excited to find out about these hot dogs as most have more fat & fillers than I'd like, so I don't buy any for my daughter & me. My problem is the closest store that I know of that carries these is a couple of hours away. With the $30 minimum order, I was able to find several other products I'd like to try, but the $15 shipping seemed a bit much. Is there any other way to buy any of your products? I have contacted a Kroger @ 30 miles away to ask about stocking the hot dogs. (They have some of your other products.) Haven't heard anything yet. Hopefully we'll get to try them sometime. Again, I think it would be the 1 hot dog I'd actually buy! Thanks!

Discoloration vs Food Safety Issue September 29, 2011

Reviewer: Applegate *.

Dear Synthia, If your hot dogs were kept at food safe temps before you frozen them, you frozen before the use by date, they were unopened when you froze them and they have only been in there for 2 months – you should be okay to eat them. Depending on the color you are talking about, it can be because several reasons. We do not sue sodium nitrate, erythorbates, or other artificial curing agents, thus the color in our hot dogs is sometimes a bit unstable. As a result, a hot dog may turn to brownish grey. In addition, our hot dogs are naturally smoked. During the smoking process hot dogs sometimes touch each other, and a spot will appear at the point of contact. The discoloration in both of these cases has no impact on the flavor or safety of the product. In other words, the hot dog is completely wholesome.

Strange color September 29, 2011

Reviewer: Synthia P.

I froze the organic turkey hot dogs as soon as they arrived. I defrosted a few of them tonight after they had been in the freezer for about two months. The color was a brown that made me worried to eat them. Should the color be brown?

Boiled or Grilled? August 31, 2011

Reviewer: Applegate *.

Thanks for writing in Ann and sorry you had to throw your hot dog out! I’ll make sure to log your situation, but please know we have had no other complaints in the system. I love our turkey hot dogs boiled vs. grilled as they are guaranteed to plump and taste great!

Disappointed August 31, 2011

Reviewer: Ann H.

I love turkey hotdogs. Unfortunately, over the past few years, I've leared about the dangers of nitrates. I was so excited when I found out that Applegate made organic turkey hotdogs without nitates. I love their turkey bacon and turkey burgers, so I was sure that the hotdogs would be great as well. I was very disappointed. I made one on my grill this past weekend and it was terrible. The hotdogs tasted like cardboard and the texture was mushy. I don't know if I got a bad batch, but I only took one bite and had to throw it out. I was really looking forward to enjoying a good organic turkey hotdog. I guess I'll have to keep searching.

Bite to our Dog July 6, 2011

Reviewer: Applegate *.

Dear Brad, Thanks for writing to us. We actually don’t have casings on these dogs, they are casing free – what you are biting into is actually the proteins that have risen to the surface when the hot dog was cooked in a cellulose casing (but we strip the casing before packaging). Saying that, thanks for letting us know that you think the bite was a little too much for the little ones, will pass it along to our development/QA team! Thanks for being a fan!

Worth the extra couple $ July 3, 2011

Reviewer: Brad B.

I had been using BallPark turkey dogs to hide pills for my old dog. They were slimy and disgusting smelling. Definitely not for human consumption or really even canine. We were going to a few cook outs and wanted something to bring along for our son and gave the Applegate Organic Turkey Dogs a whirl. They are really great. I'm appreciative that I'm not getting massive amounts of fat and sodium, as well as the other assumed advantages. The only thing I think some will not like is the bite of the casing. Not quite brat strength, but noticeably more than the Ball Park or Jenni-O's I had recently bought. If my son was younger I'd definitely adhere to cutting in half lengthwise to reduce the choke hazard.

Great for allergic children June 3, 2011

Reviewer: Carisa P.

My son is allergic to dairy and soy. There are very few products that do not contain either in some form. I confirmed with Applegate Farms today that they are SOY-FREE as well. Yay! And they use good practice to prevent cross- contamination of allergens. Hope you enjoy as much as we do!!
