EXCELLENT! May 8, 2012

Reviewer: Sandra M.

I love that there are 7 hotdogs I add the extra to macaroni and cheese mix! I have frozen a portion of the package if I was not consuming at one sitting and they reheat wonderfully! Incredible tasting beef and I am so happy to have this option as I had given up on Hotdogs and only eaten turkey for the past few years. Thank you - they fit in the bun perfectly too!!

Question_part of meat used April 2, 2012

Reviewer: Lia K.

Hi, I've been buying your Organic Beef Sausage for my 3 years old which he really enjoys.I buy only organic meats and diary. My husband however is concerned about what parts of the cow go to make that sausage?( ie;anus, skin, bones etc.)thanks

Packaging February 29, 2012

Reviewer: Carrie K.

I also do not like that there are only 7 hot dogs in a package. I read the reason for this on your site, but I still don't agree. You simply can NOT buy a 7 pack package of buns. My two star rating is for the packaging, not the product.

Meat by-products February 29, 2012

Reviewer: Carrie K.

Does this product contain meat by-products? Is it mechanically separated meat? I don't see this mentioned on the package or on this web page. I buy this product from Trader Joe's. I really like it, by the way.

Size of Hot Dog January 16, 2012

Reviewer: Applegate *.

Dear Anne. Glad that you prefer organic! Our Great Organic Beef Hot Dog & our Organic Stadium Beef Dog are a little smaller, 8 hot dogs in a 16 oz pack versus 7 in a 12 oz. Our Natural Big Apple Hot Dogs are much skinnier but they are part of our naturals range and made from pork versus beef. We’ll be sure to put your suggestion forward! Thanks for letting us know what your little ones like!

great hotdog but too big January 14, 2012

Reviewer: Anne D.

I frequently buy these hotdogs because I so prefer the organic ingredients to the ingredients in the other supermarket options. Unfortunately, my children complain that they are too fat and that they strongly prefer the thinner Hebrew National Brand. They prefer not to eat the Applegate Farms because of the size. We'd all be happy if Applegate ever made a thinner version of the organic beef hotdog!

Perfect Hot Dog January 4, 2012

Reviewer: Kristen H.

I just discovered these hot dogs at my local Trader Joes and I'm in love! I am pregnant right now and very afraid to indulge in a hot dog because of nitrates and the standard practices of the US cattle industry. I was planning on grabbing Nathan's but then I saw these and I was blown away: grass-fed, organic, no nitrates--this should be the bare minimum standard in our country. I would pay $10 a pack for these hot dogs to keep a consumer-conscious business like this in business and rewarded for going above and beyond! Seriously? People are griping about an extra hot dog bun instead of applauding a company with these high standards?! Keep up the great work my son and I are in love with these super-dogs!

Nutmeg oil not in this product December 6, 2011

Reviewer: Applegate *.

Nutmeg oil isn’t in this product, the only hot dog it is in is the Super Natural Beef Hot Dog, not our Organic Beef Hot Dog. We have nine varieties of hot dogs and our customer service team is more than happy to talk through your multiple allergies to see if any of them are suitable for your dietary needs. Thanks! 1-866-587-5858

applegate hot dogs December 6, 2011

Reviewer: michele s.

I have a family member who is extremely allergic to many foods, so we stay busy reading ingredients before buying. We were thrilled to find he could have these hot dogs. We were surprised and disappointed to find out that you have changed your recipe for Applegate hotdogs and now use "nutmeg oil" as one of the ingredients which he has extreme allergies to. Why the change?

picky kids November 5, 2011

Reviewer: courtney S.

I have 3 extremely picky children ages 1, 2 and 5. They LOVE these hotdogs and I don't feel guilty about letting them have them! They taste amazing! I love that they are nitrate free. I work as an oncology physician assistant and I always worry about a correlation between nitrates and colon cancer. Thanks for this as well as all the other great products!

Pretty good, but... October 29, 2011

Reviewer: Dillon G.

Why would these come in packs of 7?! You know how many times in the history of the earth hot dog buns have been sold in a 7-pack? Zero. You're subjecting one poor hot dog bun to a life of loneliness and eventual mold.

lactic acid & egg October 24, 2011

Reviewer: Applegate *.

Dear John, Please know lactic acid is a live active culture similar to the ones used in yogurt, but not dairy related. The sugars used to create this lactic can be derived from beets or dextrose. We use lactic acid as a food safety precaution. Lactic acid starter cultures are not derived from wheat or dairy and do not contain any milk or milk protein. Therefore, the products are still considered to be gluten and casein free. Also there is no egg in this hot dog or any of our hot dogs, the only products with egg in it is our pot pie and corn dog. Thanks!

Looking forward to trying October 21, 2011

Reviewer: John S.

I picked up a package and I am looking forward to giving them a try. My son has allergies to dairy and eggs which makes it difficult to find things he can eat. I found your hotdogs and hopes that he likes them because I like that your brand uses no dairy and is organic. Could you tell me, though, what you use for your lactic acid starter? Is it corn or some other veg? Also, I can't imagine there is, but there are no egg products used in the hotdog, correct? Thanks and I hope to be returning with a 5 star rating after indulging in your dogs.

great tasting October 8, 2011

Reviewer: Colleen C.

Great taste, all natural, grass fed beef hotdogs. No nitrates or nitrites. I'm 50, and they are still very easy to digest. They are about $4.99 a package at Trader Joe's, and they are worth the price.

Amazing! September 19, 2011

Reviewer: Jessica B.

Finally a hotdog I don't feel bad eating! It tastes great although it is a bit denser then "processed" hot dogs so the difference in texture (when you bite into it) may be something to get used to. Definitely worth it though...made great and good for you...yay!

Oh... the joy! September 3, 2011

Okay, I admit it. I'm a 30-year vegetarian who now cheats with Applegate organic beef dogs. Keep your turkey and yuck to tofu! May my epitaph read... "She went from pigging out on Applegate organic beef hot dogs, and passed very happy indeed."

Blown away! September 1, 2011

Reviewer: Jeff F.

We purchased a pack of your organic beef hot dogs at our local food co-op in Little Falls, NY and we were absolutely blown away at the taste, texture, and quality! I'm not one who is prone to writing these sorts of reviews, but every once in a while you encounter a product that is head and shoulders above the rest. I will be looking for more of your products in the future. Sure they cost a little more, but this is definitely a case of getting what you pay for! Thanks for such a great product!
