Awesome for sensitivities! May 8, 2012

Reviewer: A H.

I haven't been able to have pepperoni for several years, and finally found this one yesterday. It tastes great, and doesn't contain milk, sugar, or anything nasty! Thank you Applegate!

Perfect Pepperoni for me March 6, 2012

I love this pepperoni. It has a great savory flavor, but it isn't overly spiced. You can taste the meat, and it is so versatile.

Sugar? No Sugar? February 16, 2012

Reviewer: Hannah H.

I went to go buy some after seeing in your comments from last August that you would have new packaging out without sugar soon - unfortunately all that I have come across still list dextrose as an ingredient. What is the status of a no sugar pepperoni product?

Serious tastiness. February 9, 2012

Reviewer: Michelle A.

I just wanted to thank Applegate for making antibiotic-free deliciousness. I have not eaten pepperoni in over a year as I could not find any that was antibiotic-free. After having just discovered the spread of Applegate products at a nearby Publix I have now consumed a half a package and intend on turning tomorrow into my own personal meat holiday with the rest of the Applegate deli meats I bought. And I'm not the slightest bit ashamed of myself. Seriously, job well done my friends.

Product Development January 25, 2012

Reviewer: Applegate *.

Hello Katherine. We actually moved away from our beef/pork pepperoni combo last year, so as of right now we only have the pork option. No immediate plans for Product Development of a beef or chicken, but will put the suggestion into the box!

only trace levels December 11, 2011

Reviewer: Applegate *.

Thanks for asking Tom. I believe it is only trace levels - All animal proteins are made up of amino acids that contain naturally occurring nitrites and nitrates. Therefore, all food made with animal protein will have trace levels of naturally occurring nitrites and nitrates. In addition, the celery juice and sea salt used to cure our meats also contain naturally occurring nitrates. If you need further clarification please call 1-866-587-5858, hope this helps!

How can I find the nitrate/ite levels of the celery juice. I have read that it may in fact be higher than conventional cures. I would like to find a definitive answer to this question, I do enjoy your product however I have to watch my nitrite intake.

Reviewer: Fernando Phillipi d.

Guy's we love your pepperoni in our house, but it's been really really hard to find these days. We used to buy at Whole Foods but they are not selling anymore and I can't find anywhere, if you could indicate a store in North NJ we would appreciate. Thanks!!!

No MSG September 15, 2011

Reviewer: Applegate *.

Dear Jencina, Sorry to hear our pepperoni isn’t your favorite compared to the old recipe. Please know we do not add MSG to any of our products. None of the ingredients we use would contain any MSG. We’d like to make sure that you are noting a personal taste preference versus there being a product issue. We welcome you to be in touch at 1-866-587-5858 to make sure we follow up on our quality assurance promise for you! Thanks again for using your voice!

It's nice to know that one form of pepperoni has no beef in it because my daughter can't eat beef. I also love the fact that it's healthy and delicious.

Dear Applegate once again I have thrown out your pepperoni thinking it had gone bad. My husband spit it out. I was puzzled, so I came here and found out that you had changed your recipe. I wish you would change it back, as it doesn't even remotely taste Italian. I am MSG reactive, so I am very sad I have no pepperoni now, as yours was the only kind I could eat. Could you make two kinds and have one of them be the old recipe?? Thank you!

Pregnancy September 6, 2011

Reviewer: Applegate *.

Dear CS, Always talk to your doctor if you have questions about pregnancy and food. Most expecting mothers we talk to are concerned about listeria. Our facilities have strict controls in place to ensure that listeria does not contaminate our products. We follow Good Manufacturing Practices, meticulous sanitation procedures, and the principles of HACCP. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) even has a zero tolerance for listeria at all plants producing fully cooked products. However, pregnant women are more susceptible to listeriosis, the disease caused by Listeria monocytogenes. It is important that you follow proper food handling and food safety techniques for all foods, especially those with a greater potential risk of being contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Please seek advice with your medical advisor before consuming a product that might be of question while you are pregnant. If we can answer any further questions, please let us know.

Green Tea? August 29, 2011

Reviewer: Tam ..

What a shocking surprise to find out that my favorite pepperoni has green tea in it! Of course I haven't tried the new recipe as money has not allowed us frequent trips to Whole Foods where we usually buy the applegate pepperoni....but years later when I have the chance to buy it, I cannot. As per our religious beliefs, we don't eat or drink teas. Even though the "stimulants" may be "out" by process, it was still used and therefore cannot be consumed by us. I'm extremely dissapointed. I can understand that wines are used to make salami because that's "normal" and therefore I also cannot eat those, but green tea is not a normal ingredient used in making pepperoni. Dissapointed. 0 stars for the new product. 5 stars for the pepperonis 3 years ago.

Green Tea August 29, 2011

Reviewer: Applegate *.

Dear Anon, Please know the green tea is used for curing and color and it amounts to less than 1% of the entire product. Because of the cooking process and trace amounts, there are no stimulants left in the final product. Hope this helps.
