Nominate a Hometown Hero

Every community has their hometown heroes – the people who keep us safe, healthy and happy, and don’t often get the kudos they deserve.  Well now’s  your chance to give these generous spirits a well deserved pat on the back by treating them to lunch compliments of Applegate.   In every community we visit on our 2011 Summer Tour, we’ll surprise your hometown heroes by showing up in our decked-out school bus to deliver them lunch.

Nominations

Nominated by B. Young, Massachusetts:
“This nomination is for the faculty and staff at The Beethoven School in the West Roxbury neighborhood of Boston.  From the crossing guard, Ms. Mack, who makes sure our children and families enter and exit the school safely, to our principals, Ms. Nash and Mr. P, who do an outstanding job ensuring our children are in a top-notch learning environment, we are so very grateful.

The teachers are working miracles with the students every day.  The office staff and school nurse are friendly and helpful.  The janitorial staff keeps the facility clean and safe.  The lunch crew is caring and attentive in serving healthy food to the students.

When we first moved to Boston, we weren't certain the public school system would be the best place for our children one day.  Thanks to everyone at The Beethoven School, our kids are thriving in an educational community filled with opportunity and diversity.”

Nominated by R. Sellin, Michigan:

"The folks at Beaumont Hospital Speech Pathology are 'heroes' to families across southeast Michigan whose children are faced with speech/language/developmental difficulties.

Our son has benefited from their care for several years now, making a HUGE difference in his confidence and overall ability to interact socially with his peers.  Each week we see other parents in the waiting room who enjoy the same benefits for their children."

Nominated by D. Hurley, New York:

"I am writing to nominate the Putnam County Office of Emergency Services and Emergency Medical Services and Sheriff’s Office. Every day, the staff of those offices work diligently to protect our community, safe lives, and prevent crime."

Nominated by K. Thornton, Georgia:

"My hometown hero is L. Scarbrough of Georgia. She is the Vice President of the Feingold Association and an advocate for health and wellness. She has been a blessing to my family as well as anyone who has the pleasure of meeting her. I have known Larisa since high school and we just reconnected a couple of years ago through Facebook.

My son has development and behavioral issues that stem from the intolerance to MANY foods and chemicals. Larisa has helped us get his diet going and is always there if we need help or have questions and she does it ALL as a volunteer. Her facebook wall is loaded with updates on food dyes, preservatives, anything that pertains to the health and wellness of our families.

She is an angel and so deserves to be recognized."
