chicken&sage sausage August 24, 2010

Reviewer: victoria p.

Horrible...why change such a great breakfast sausage? It was so perfect and now I am throwing the product out. I will NOT buy it again after I used to buy 2-3 boxes at a time. It taste like a sponge and is mushy. Bring back the original....please!

The recipe change was not good! August 6, 2010

Reviewer: Dee Dee M.

I rarely take the time to critique anything. But you guys really ruined a good thing when you changed the chicken sage sausage recipe. Before, I would have given it a 5 star rating, and bought a box every week or two. Now the new version is disgusting! I don't buy them anymore. It tastes sweet, has no sage flavor and has a sponge like, revolting mushy texture. Whoever made the executive decision to do this needs their tastebuds retired! Bring back the old recipe. I don't care if it was fried in oil - isn't that how you make a sausage? And that's why you don't eat it everyday! It's a special treat once or twice a week.....whether it's organic, natural or conventional!

Why the need to sweeten them? August 4, 2010

Reviewer: L F.

I thought these tasted good, but the texture was a little.. sponge-like and weird. Still, I'd probably buy them again, if they didn't contain sugar. Honestly, I don't understand the need to add a sweetener to some foods, this being one. Too bad, as I probably could have adjusted the texture with different cooking methods, and they would have been great.

Liked these June 29, 2010

Reviewer: AnnaMary G.

I don't know if my package is the old or the new (same image as on product page)but I had these this morning and found them quite good. I went to the site because I had previously tried the chicken apple sausage and found them very unappealing (dark brown, burnt looking), which was not the case with the chicken and sage sausage.

BRING 'EM BACK June 27, 2010

Reviewer: Rachel C.

The new sausages are smaller, have more calories and taste AWFUL. As the other recent reviewers have said and notice they are still using the old-style packaging on the product page my guess is the good reviews are on the old product still on the shelves. Is also a good example of why people are turned off to "green" products, because they don't work or taste bad. Change the packaging, but not the sausages. I'm buying Jones Light until you BRING BACK THE GREAT OLD ONES!

Thank YOU! June 11, 2010

I am so thankful to find these WITHOUT the soy! We need to be soy free in our household as well as gluten free and my kids love your sausage! Thank you so much for making great tasting product without the allergens!

Change can be good May 25, 2010

Reviewer: Randy S.

I am a huge fan of this product and when I saw the new box I was excited. Once I opened I realized the sausages themselves looked different. Then I cooked and tasted them and realized they had a little different taste. Immediately I called Applegate Farms for an explanation. I was told that the only change made to the product was the product no longer being fried in oils but now baked ! While initially I was taken by the slight flavor difference I was happy to see that they took the stand to now bake these instead of frying in oils.

Disgusting Recipe Change May 19, 2010

Reviewer: Toi J.

Applegate Farms, I'm not sure who made the decision to change the recipe on a really excellent sausage, but it was a very bad decision. We used to buy a box a week, now we buy NONE. You already have a sweet sausage. Why sweeten your savory sausage? This was an experiment akin to Frankenstein. Bring the old ones back!!!

BRING BACK THE OLD ONES! May 16, 2010

Reviewer: Ann P.

I have to agree with other posters. I just tried the new ones this morning. They don't even taste like real meat and have corn syrup as their 3rd ingredient. No more savory meaty perfectly spiced flavor. The new ones are more calories and gross tasting. Please bring the old ones back - I was a loyal fan for years, but can't buy these new ones anymore. I had to come online while at my breakfast table to post my dis-satisfaction with this inferior product. Please, please, bring the old ones back.

bring back the old ones! May 5, 2010

I thought it was just a change in the packaging, but, lo and behold, what was once the best breakfast sausage on the market has turned into something horribly generic. It's mostly the texture, but also the taste. Bring back the original -- soon!

Change em back! May 3, 2010

I too dislike the new recipe. The taste and texture are unappealing. Prior to the change, I ate those wonderful sausages every morning for almost a year. Now I will look for a new brand.

recipe changes April 22, 2010

Reviewer: Amy H.

I ADORE the new packaging - did a little dance with the frozen food guy even - so sleek and smart. But then I realized the slight change in ingredients. I thought they were mis-packaged at first; all I tasted was sweet. Where did the sage go? This former fan is now totally bummed. Please change it back...

Was the best, until..... April 15, 2010

they made changes to the product. I was hoping that it was only the packaging that changed, but the product is different now. I personally dont think the new chicken sausage tastes as good as the previous recipe. I wish they would change it back!

Shockingly Good! March 31, 2010

Reviewer: May C.

I am a carnivore, straight up. I purchased these sausage in error. I didn't realize that they were chicken sausage until I got home. I opened them 3 weeks later to get rid of hem. Honestly they are better than prok sausage. They have so much flavor! I wish that I can order them online b/c they aren't sold everywhere. Applegate products are pretty easy to find but not these frozen sausage. I love them!

Love 'em! March 20, 2010

Reviewer: John M.

My wife's always trying to give me what I call "fake healthy food" stuff that's supposed to taste like the real thing, but don't. These sausages do! I get at least as much pleasure eating these as I do the "real" thing.

Great! January 13, 2010

Reviewer: Heather L.

I just had these for the first time while I was on vacation and they are fantastic! If you want a great-tasting sausage that's lighter in calories and don't want to eat pork, this is a great choice - there isn't another product out there that I've found that tastes better and is as healthy as these are. Thanks Applegate!

So happy to have found these! December 12, 2009

Reviewer: Sarah M.

These sausages are perfect. We are gluten, casein, egg, beef, anything not natural-free so it can be a challenge to find premade foods that fit the bill. These sausages are fast, easy, and delicious and even my kids love them. Great way to send them off to pre-school with some protein in their bellies.
